The Forestry Institute (INFOR) is a technological Institute of research of the State of Chile, attached to the Ministry of agriculture, its mission is to create and transfer scientific and technological knowledge of excellence for sustainable use of resources and forest ecosystems, the development of products and derivatives services, as well as generate information relevant to the forest sector, in the areas economic social and environmental.

The INFOR keeps his lines of research around plantations, forests, forest products, information and other areas, but is strongly focused its actions towards the small landowners and forestry pyme, according to Government and ministerial priorities, through lines and delivery of information in your web site that are mostly focused on the sustainable management of the different types of forests throughout the country to the integration of family farming and the pyme to forestry development, to the permanent monitoring of forest resources, the study of the forest as a source of energy biomass and the issues related to climate change, incorporating strong programmes of technical transfer and diffusion to the aforementioned segment
