My favorite tree

Guayacan is a shrub or small tree endemic of Chile is distributed between the IV and VI region of our country, it is very adapted to dry and arid places, growing in the Andean foothills and the Rocky slopes of the hills the wood is very hard and beautiful grain (black and yellow) which is used for cutting decorative instruments. Formerly used it is even to make machine parts, given its extreme resistance.

Porlieria chilensis is currently with conservation problems, due to their indiscriminate logging and also affected by an envelope grazing goats causing a decrease in the number of individuals in their populations, this has been classified in the category of vulnerable species.

Guayacan possesses different properties, is used as stimulant, depurative, diaphoretic and diuretic also, is used as a treatment in colds, flu, asthma, bronchitis, chronic colds, i.e. in disorders of respiratory tract already mentioned, in rheumatism, gout, escrofulosis, conditions the skin, syphilis, and amenorrhea.

Wood is used to make handicrafts, with her floors and stairs of luxury was performed, it is possible to manufacture knives, axes, swords, are also manufactured structures such as propellers, boats, roller conveyors etc.
